Your Living Room, Coffee Table and Your Favorite Tunes!

A New Plan – right in the living room!
Part One: Resistance Training

Yesterday I decided to start a new dance and fitness routine. I really feel it's important to change things up to keep interest levels high. So, that's what I did, yesterday – Why wait 'till tomorrow?

I pulled down one of my favorite resources, "Fit and Female" by Geralyn Coopersmith. It's a great book which gives the perfect nutrition and workout for your body type.

Little to no equipment needed, I chose the "advanced" workout for my body type, and got my self moving; right there in my living room. EXCELLENT START!

Part two: 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, 3 to 5 days a week.

My choice: implement two new dance classes a week. Perhaps a jazz class at Broadway Dance Center or Steps on Broadway in New York City. And…get some fresh air with a walk or a run.

OK now, It's Sunday and the first wrench in my new plan; life, the beautiful sunshine and a park deterred me from venture into NYC. Well, I did get in a walk, but it was more like a stroll.

After coming home, I turned on the newest playlist on my ipod. "VHI Presents Donna Summer" is energetic, dynamic and danceable. Before I could blink, I had danced around for 6 songs!

I was perspiring, laughing, dancing, moving. Bottom line…burning calories.
I went back and did the math, 6 songs on this particular CD was 28 minutes and 45 seconds of cardiovascular activity! My favorite kind to boot : Dancing.

So, don't be afraid to roll back the area rug, push away the coffee table and blast that favorite tune! You'll burn some extra calories, do the body good and most likely experience some sheer enjoyment.
Go ahead, dance like nobody is watching…
