How do you like your flavors? If you are an espresso drinker, you may have preference for stronger, more bold tastes. You may like the espresso drink recipe I shared below for my first Patty Loves post. I have a personal preference for strong flavors. I like bold flavors that have weight and texture and substance to them.
For example, I like my meals loaded with garlic and ginger, I steep my herbal teas the entire time I’m drinking them, I like full bodied red wine… okay, I’m sure you get the picture.
Among them, is my coffee drink – I love espresso! When we are traveling and I can’t get espresso, I will pass on a cup of regular coffee unless it is made super dark and strong.
About a year ago, my hubby and I moved away from dairy and started drinking Oatly Barista Edition oat milk in our morning cappuccinos. My drink is actually a Cortado which is the same thing with way less steamed milk, it’s got a stronger flavor, no big surprise.
As part of our morning routine, one of us will make our morning espresso drinks, and whenever possible, we’ll share them together for some quality time to start our day.
Cutting Calories to Lose Pandemic Body
This summer, I was looking for ways to cut some calories to combat my newly forming pandemic body. Yikes! I decided to cut out my morning alternative milk drink. But, NOT my enjoyment of my AM espresso. So, I picked up my phone and started asking Siri a bunch of questions until I landed on one that I wanted to try.
What We Use For Our Daily Espresso Drink
It all starts here. I love our at home Espresso Machine. We have the Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine, home machine with the coffee grinder. We also use our Breville for making hot Tea, Hot Chocolate and chai drinks
We use Waverly Beans from Joe’s Coffee. The beans freshly ground on our Breville Barista with the Joe's Waverly beans creates super smooth flavor and lots of control to create exactly the taste we are looking for. We also enjoy the Illy Brand Espresso, both classic and dark roast
Patty Loves Espresso Drink Recipe
I found this surprisingly refreshing recipe from Martha Stewart which is a great alternative espresso drink. Her Iced Lemon Espresso Drink is made with espresso, lemon slices, lemon seltzer & ice. I use either lemon, lemon/lime, or plain flavor seltzer – whatever I have. I have noticed that the more bubbly the espresso, the more frothy your drink will be. Yes, it actually creates a froth! Yum.
My own addition to this espresso drink recipe is that I pour the cold seltzer over the espresso before I pour it on the ice. Remember I said I like strong flavors? Well, I would never water down my espresso drink by pouring hot espresso over cold ice. Ummm, that sounds — and tastes— like regular coffee to me. No offense to regular coffee drinkers. It’s just not my jam.
Here's the recipe from Martha Stewart's Website.
I have no affiliation with Martha Stewart or this Iced Lemon Espresso Drink recipe. I simply sharing something I love.
